Did you ever want to do your own nails at home and still get the professional look? Thinking of doing it yourself but you’re not sure of what products to use and how to apply it? Well, no worry that’s why I’m here to tell you how to step by step! There is no more electric drill or the strong odor of gel polish. Getting the look you want can be done with just a few products and steps. Before even starting maybe it would be good to visit the nearest nail salon and get a set of gel nails done. This way you can see what is the process and maybe it will give you an idea if it’s possible to get the same look at home or not.
What you need:
1. UV light (will be using an OPI 30 second lamp)
2. Gel nail polish (any color you prefer)
3. Gel base coat
4. Gel top coat
5. Nail cleanser
6. Nail bonder
7. Cuticle oil
8. Cotton balls
9. Nail buffer block
10. Nail filer
11. Cuticle pusher
Process:
Prepare your nails by removing any old polish and cleaning your nails with a cotton ball. Using a nail cuticle pusher, push back your cuticles and clean your nail plates. Shape your nails with your nail filer and then buff your nails light with the buffer block. Once you are done, grab another cotton ball and clean your nails with the nail cleanser. Now you need to apply the nail bonder to all your fingernails, let it dry, and then you can begin your process of polishing your nails. The first step to polishing your nails is to apply a thin layer of the base coat to your nails. Make sure to avoid letting the base coat touch your cuticles. If it does you need to wipe it off immediately with a small object, like a wooden nail stick. Place your hands, one at a time, into the lamp for 30 seconds. The lamp will beep once the 30 seconds has ended. Now apply the gel polish color of your choice to all your fingernails. Remember to make sure that it isn’t touching your cuticles. Stick your hand back into the lamp for 30 seconds for each hand. After curing both hands, apply another layer of the color polish and repeat the steps of putting it into the lamp. Now, apply a thin layer of the top coat to all your nails and place your hands, one at a time, into the lamp for 30 seconds each. Using a new cotton ball and the nail cleanser, wipe your fingernails to clean the new coat of polish you have just applied onto your nails. Apply a good amount of cuticle oil to the skin surrounding the nails to give them the moisture that was lost during the process.
